Leaving the family farm
Percy was an outstanding cadet in the Bunbury military troop and an equally impressive school student. He was known for his writing skills. When WWI broke out, he and his two brothers were determined to enlist, despite being needed on the family farm. In 1916, Sergeant Percy Blythe set sail for Egypt.
